A wave of kidnappings has swept through Mexico, feeding a growing sense of panic among its wealthier citizens, especially parents. In one six-day period, there were twenty-four abductions, leading many to hire bodyguards for their children. John Creasy, a burned-out ex-CIA operative, who has given up on life, is hired to be a bodyguard to nine-year-old Pita Ramos, daughter of industrialist Samuel Ramos and his wife Lisa. Creasy barely wants to open up about him and his life to this little girl. But slowly, she chips away at his seemingly impenetrable exterior, his defenses drop, and he opens up to her. Creasy's new-found purpose in life is shattered when Pita is kidnapped. Despite being mortally wounded during the kidnapping, he vows to kill anyone involved in or profiting from the kidnapping. It's about a man who has lost interest in life. But, slowly he has his life back when he became a bodyguard of a little girl. When the girl was kidnapped and told has been murdered, he vowed to revenged for her. The pursuing was intense and the way he dealt with the bad guys was tough and cruel.
The downside of this movie is that too much violence and quite cruel and merciless, I think.
Regardless of the cruelty and merciless, this movie is telling us about love, loyalty, and spirit.
