The movie seems too scary for me to watch. But I can't keep my curiosity down. So I read some sources about this movie from the newspaper & some websites. Here are some notes that I can collect:
  • It's back to root Mr. Shyamalan movie. Means psycho, thriller, Alfred Hitchcock thriller like plus the traditional supernatural & emotional of the usual Mr. Shyamalan's movies nature. (The Sixth Sense, Signs, Lady in the Water, The Village). An of course as usual, include a child in the main characters.
  • The idea of the story came when Mr. Shyamalan on his way to New York, looking the green scenery at the New Jersey countryside from the windshield. Then he thought "What if the nature one day turned on us?" That moment, the structure & the characters of the story build up in his mind. It brought up some environmental issues that we are facing these days.
  • In this movie, the human instinct to preserve & avoid dangers seems gone. It goes the other way around which lead them to make suicide in the most unsuspected & gruesome ways. The main characters represent the instinct to survive. That includes love & care to pull them together.
  • In his own word, Mr. S said he wanted this movie to be "electric, clean & dynamic".
  • If the Exorcist is rated as PG13 movie, u can imagine the impact of the this R rated movie. Beware! Warning! Strictly not for children, pregnant ladies, soft hearted people & so are people with heart problems. (Note: The initial draft of the screenplay is actually has enough potential nerve wrecking impact but much to Mr. Shyamalan's delight when the Twentieth Century Fox studio, asked him to go to the extreme of tension & terror as to make it as an R rated movie).
  • It is released on Friday the 13th.

Verdict:

It's a very interesting movie to see. But yet have to be watched with extra caution. Regarding of the material of Mr. S' R rated movie. (gruesomely, graphic & violent scenes). If you up for it, then go & watch it... it's only 90 minutes. ;p
