Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Released date: 24 May 1989
Running Time: 2hr. 7 mins
Genres: Action, Adventure
Director: Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall
Producer: George Lucas, Frank Marshall, Robert Watts, Arthur Repola
Starring: Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Denholm Elliot, John Rhys Davies

Read Synopsis:

It's 1938 and Indy (Harrison Ford) receives word that his archaeologist dad, Professor Henry Jones (Sean Connery), has disappeared while on a quest for the Holy Grail. Indy embarks on a search for both his dad and the much-coveted artifact. THE LAST CRUSADE has a unique twist to the series' traditional opening-sequence cliffhanger. Actor River Phoenix plays an adolescent Indy who, while on a field trip with his Boy Scout troop, finds adventure on a circus train. Spielberg wanted to make the film about a father-and-son relationship, and Connery was his first choice to play Indy's dad. The selection was perfect, considering Spielberg and producer George Lucas first came up with the idea of the series as a rival to the James Bond movies in which Connery had starred. Before shooting THE LAST CRUSADE, Spielberg was planning on directing RAIN MAN with Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise but gave up the project to fulfill his contractual obligation with Lucas to make a third Indiana Jones movie.

It's hilarious! It's thrilling! It's entertaining!

In this movie journey to find the Holy Grail forced Indiana Jones to deal with Nazi once, including got signature from the Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler!

This sequel still has the trio that made the two previous of Indiana Jones, plus a great actor, an actor that famous as Mr.Bond, Sean Connery. His role as Indiana Jones' father and as an old historian were really suited with him. And, I think the light humor that presented by Sean Connery and Harrison Ford was comparable with TV comedy.

But, the story that include a group of people who kill anyone in order to protect the Holy Grail and the story of the three brothers of knight might invite queries of facts, if not complaints, from Christian believers.

Verdict:

I think it's the best sequel from last three Indiana Jones sequel. Worth to watch a few times. :)

This movie storyline doesn't have anything to do at all with its predecessor, Appleseed. The only things remains the same are the main characters.

The storyline is too simple as compared to the first movie. One thing extraordinary is the fact that Miuccia Prada, Yes...you heard it! the lady behind Miu-Miu and Prada brand, designed two outfits for Deunan. She actually mentioned that she watched and like the first movie very much that she wants to be part of the second.

If you like the first movie, chances are you might like this one as well however do not expect complex story here. Just enjoy the shotting spree and the explosions. I do recommend you to enjoy the first battle scene in church. That is my most favorite battle scene in this installment.

Do you like watching Gundam with all its intrigues and storyline? If you do, you might want to let your eyes feast on this one. This is one of the many animes about cyborgs, robots and the far future.

Very good animation with smooth moves and awesome characters. The storyline is great, forcing us to think a little bit. Too bad, it doesn't hit the cinemas in my country, Singapore. Fortunately I can still enjoy it 3 years after its release.

Even though, the movie is not as popular as its hollywood counterparts products like Shark Tales, Flushed away, and the rest, I still think it deserves a thumbs up due to its artwork and creative storyline. It would be even greater if it is expanded to become a series but, all in all, it is a really good movie.

Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Guan Yu. I guess not many people in the world who never heard about this. If that's wrong, at least every chinese in the world should have heard about them one war or another. These are some of the main characters in China history that were brought life in this movie.

Red Cliff is one movie that people have been waiting for the longest time. Ever since the San Guo Yan Yu TV series, the popularity of this story has increased so much.

Statistics in Google confirms that people have been looking forward to this movie from 3 years ago.

This is a must-watch for Romance of the Three Kingdom fans. If you have vowed to watch only one chinese movie in one year, this has to be the one. This is the biggest budgeted asian movie to date with US$80million. With John Woo in command of a bunch of Asian superstars like Tony Leung, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Zhao Wei, and Hu Jun, there is no way you can go wrong watching this. The other San Guo movie picturing Andy Lau as Zhao Yun, that was released a few months before, can be taken as introduction to this main event.

The main characters are brilliantly portrayed to show their own supposed personal values and principles. The plot is not draggy and there is a good mix of battle scenes, serious talks and light jokes. One of scenes to remember is when both Zhou Yu and Zhuge Liang play chinese string-based musical instruments with all the dynamicity. It is great music.

R-man review:

Longing to see a hero with horns and dark red tail? Luckily this guy doesn't hold a fork-like spear as well. However he really was hell dwellers. That's before he came to earth through a portal created by some idiots.

Hellboy is a dark-themed action sci-fi movie with a bunch of human-like creatures that looks like a frickin' freak show. But Hey! who cares! As long as we have the action, explosions, hard-to-defeat boss and a unique storyline, we'll gladly become vegetables for one and a half hour.

For those who read the comics, probably this is not new, but for the rest, this is really awesome. If I haven't said so, this movie is adapted from a comic with the same title. I am not sure if this movie for primary school kids or older or adults since at times the red devil acts like a clown but one thing for sure, kids watching this movie definitely need parental guidance.

Verdict :
This is one movie I enjoy watching since I like dark-themed shows such as Van Helsing, Underworld, etc. You have to make sure that you come in early otherwise you'll miss how this devil boy comes to work for US government. Come with your popcorn and drinks, you can afford to miss any scenes to thoroughly enjoy the best out of this movie.
